E. Diane Shieh, DMD, MMSc – “Dr. Diane”

Dr. Shieh is a native of central Virginia, where she grew up with her 3 younger sisters and parents. She relocated to the Northeast after one summer at Harvard Summer School, and never left! She all but considers herself a New Englander now, but just wait for her southern accent to surprise you! She, her husband Ryan (an Amherst native), and their two children enjoy the charm that Amherst and the surrounding towns have to offer. When she’s not spending time with family, Dr. Diane’s personal interests include knitting (share your latest project!), cooking (who’s your favorite chef?), and listening to music of all kinds!

Dr. Diane graduated with honors, cum laude, from Wellesley College in Wellesley, Massachusetts, with a bachelors of arts degree in Art History and Biology. She received her dental training at Tufts University in Boston, Massachusetts, graduating with the highest honors, summa cum laude. While at Tufts, Dr. Diane was elected her class president all four years – the first woman to ever do so at Tufts! She then completed a three-year orthodontic training program at Harvard University, simultaneously earning her masters in Medical Sciences. She has received numerous academic awards and leadership distinctions, including induction into the national dental honors society, Omicron Kappa Upsilon, and recognition by the American College of Dentists and the Pierre Fauchard Academy.

Dr. Diane holds professional memberships in the American Association of Orthodontists, the American Board of Orthodontics, the Northeast Society of Orthodontists, the New Hampshire Dental Society, the New Hampshire Womens' Dental Society, various national and local study clubs, and local fundraising committees. She is also proudly Board Certified.
